"I wanted to teach the young minds, help them build their dreams. I also love to share my knowledge: teach our culture, teach our values, teach them to become good citizens.
My goal is that they can be able to help our society.
I've never missed one day of school. When I was a child, even when I was sick, I still wanted to go to school. Nothing mattered more than school. I had to walk a long way, because we didn't have many kinds of transport. We needed to walk a lot and cross a river. But I loved to go to school. Because I liked to learn, and I knew that it was the only way for pursue my dreams. When I was a kid, I liked to teach kids that where younger than me. Maybe, somehow, I always felt that this is my mission: to help kids to improve themselves.
I had a special teacher in grade four. She always encouraged us to go after our dreams, and told us that we need to help each other, like brothers and sisters. She was a model for me.
The worst problem in the Philippines Educational System is that we need to handle to many kids inside the classroom. The classes are overcrowded. Especially now that we can not discipline the kids with physical punishment, we can not even touch the kids. This make teaching harder, but it is also a challenge for us, because we need to teach how to value education, we need to create other tools to get the right behavior of them.
I want my students to become responsible to society and to become independent, I want them to have their own things. I want to help them build their own lives in the future.
To teach is the most noblest profession. All the other professions would not exist without the teachers. If one of my students come to me and say that he or she is going to be a teacher, I would feel so proud! But I believe they will be good professionals, no matter what they choose to do.
I keep coming every day to class because is a exchange: we can inspire them to be good and they inspire us to keep working, to teach more and more, so that someday they can stand on their own feet.
We are models, we can help our country just by doing our jobs."
